Chinook Health Information
Mountain Laurel has participated in all health studies going on within the Chinook breed. Dr. Jerold Bell DVM from Tufts University of Veterinary Medicine studied and compiled results for the Chinook breed Health and Diversity Studies in 1998. He felt that healthy dogs are under reported in studies and this tends to overestimate the frequency of disorders. As in all breeds, no matter how excellent the breeding program is, randomly dogs will be born with health issues. We work for the health of our companion animals. By addressing genetic issues with open eyes, Mountain Laurel and other Chinook enthusiasts should be able to enjoy the renaissance of a healthy breed for many years.
